Interview to Katie (my host student)
Me:Hi Katie!
Katie: Hi! How are you?
Me:Good! Can I ask you some questions?
Katie: Ok!
Me: Did you like having a host student?
Katie: Yes! I’ve had fun with you, and it’s very interesting.
Me: Do you like Spain?
Katie: I love it! I went last summer, and I wish I could go on February, but I am only a freshman.
Me: Yes, that’s sad…well…What do you like most of Spain?
Katie: the cities and the food! But I really don’t like the bullrides.
Me:Would you like to go again?
Katie: Of course! I’d really love to!
Me:What do you like to do in your free time?
Katie: Hanging out with friends!
Me: Do you get on well with your sister?
Katie: No… we are always fighting, like everybody who has brother or sister!
Me: Well, thanks fot the interview!
Katie: It’s a pleasure!
Me: bye!
Going to the cinema!
I love going to the cinema, so one day I asked my family to go. Carola went with me, and when we got there she insisted so much in watching “Nightmare Before Christmas 3D” that we finished watching it.
We liked it very much, it was really funny to see the effects and we could understand all because the argument was the same than the other one, so I passed a nice evening in the cinema with my family.
Monday
We got up really early, but because of that we arrived very early to see the Liberty Statue. It was a very warm day, like a summer one, so I had a nice time walking on the island and in the boat ride.
After that we went to the MOMA , the Museum of Modern Art. Our guide showed us some pictures and then we went on our own to see them. I found very weird ones.
I really didn’t want to leave New York, I’d like to have spent a week or so, but, it wasn’t possible.
I’m willing to go back someday!!!
Sunday
I love New York City!!
We had to get up very early on Sunday because there were much time to New York, but when we got there, we couldn’t help our excitement and we started making photos from the bus!!
We went on a tour by bus with a guide and we stopped in many places to see them well, like Central Park, Empire State, Chinatown…
After that we cheked in the hotel, and we prepared ourselves for the Mary Poppins play in the teathre, but I didn’t understand a lot what they were saying.
And then we had plenty of time to go shopping!!! Times Square is so nice at night!
It was sad when we had to leave!!
Halloween’s Party!!
On Saturday 20th we had a Halloween’s party, Spanish students and our hosts. We got there at 7, everyone with our costumes and we danced, ate, and we made our Halloween’s pumpkin!! We put them with their candles and we chose the best one. It was very funny.I dressed like a vampire, although my costume was not very good but, it was only for a day!

NEWPORT
Today we went to Newport!!
I like it so much, although leaving at 7:20 from the school isn’t very funny
. First of all, we went to an old huge mansion, the Breaker’s House. The Breaker family lived on the XX century and the bougth the house near the sea with all the facilities you can imagine. They had 70 rooms and 5o servants, and gardens next to the sea. It was very beautiful. After that, we went to another mansion. It wasn’t so old, but it was rebuilt because a fire destroyed it. This one had huge and really nice gardens and trees. We went out in order to make some photos.
After the visit we went to downtown, where we spent the afternoon eating and shopping. We would like to stay more because the city was so nice with the sea and the boats. I’d like to go there again!
School’s Day
Hello!!
Yesterday I had my first day at Mildford High School. First we went to a meeting with all the students and the teachers in order to explain to us what are we going to do here and how our behaviour had to be. Then Mrs. Olano’s students showed us the school, it is huge!! I could get lost here very easily.
The rest of the day we went with our respective classes. I followed Katie (she is my american student) through the school with no idea about where I was.
People were very friendly with me, asking a lot of things about Spain, but classes are too long.
Today at school I talked more with the students and more or less I can find the way to class. It will take me a little more not to get lost here.
At least there’s one thing with I have no problem: at night I’m so tired that I’m willing to go to bed.
Goodbye!!
BOSTON
Hello!! Today we went to Boston with our american mates. It was a fantastic day!!
First, we went to a tour by bus. We saw many things, and the city is very nice and big!! After that the bus went into Charles River and we sailed through it for a while, it was funny!
What I liked the most was The Science Museum. It was huge!! We saw a room about mathematics, which wasn’t bad although it may seem to be boring. And we saw another room about the electricity, with many things to experience. Optical Illusions were interesting too so was the room about The Weather. In fact, there were so many places to go that we couldn’t visit all of them and I was really tired in the end.
Pre-start
Hello!! I’m Beatriz Álvarez Zapatero and i’m 15. I study in Valladolid, at San Agustín school, and I’m going on a exchange with a girl in Mildford, Boston, from the 5th to the 27th of October, and I believe it will be a really nice experience.
I will upload some photos about all the things I do there and write about my daylife.
